A nice original specimen of the N-9 “Knob on Ear” variety. A slightly later die state, with the secondary break below the main “knob” starting to fill in from the left. The first enlarged image of this feature is of the coin being offered; the second is of an earlier die state coin courtesy of PCGS as a comparison. As this variety is very obvious, a fair number were put aside as a curiosity, but there is still a reasonable premium for the variety as it is very popular. 0417-02
