1819 Coronet Head Large Cent, Small Date, Newcomb-3.  PCGS AU-58, freshly recertified with attribution, in the Condition Census, albeit at the bottom.  Currently tied with 2 other attributed AU-58's at PCGS, with 3 Brown and 2 Red Brown Unc better.  NGC shows 2 coins in AU-58 plus 5 BN Unc, 1 RB Unc.  More than likely there are is some duplication in there.  In my opinion, this coin did not see actual use in circulation.  It is graded technically by the old school standard, for a weaker Obverse strike that failed to bring up the full detail in the top & back of Liberty's hair and around the periphery.  The lack of a full strike meant luster did not develop on Liberty's hair.  As well there is extremely minor darkening on her cheek/bust and the high points of the leaves on the Reverse, from contact with coins it was mixed in with.  Otherwise smooth original problem free surfaces that are hard to find a mark on, with a natural mahogany brown color.  This coin is new to the market, having shown up unattributed in a local coin shop.  FYI, the two other PCGS AU-58's have images shown on CoinFacts, for review.  This has nicer surfaces in my opinion than the piece sold by Goldberg's in 2020, which they net EAC graded at EF-40+.  The other coin was sold twice by Stack's 2016 & 2017 - that coin has a better strike but is perhaps a touch dark.  I am limited as to the number of images I can post here and have more available - please ask. The PCGS TrueView images make the coin's color appear to be more 'reddish' so I have included some others taken by myself that are closer to real life.  Given all the excess verbiage, picking a price/value is fraught with peril, especially given the difference between 'commercial' and EAC, etc. standards.  I have aimed high as a starting point and added a Make an Offer option. Just be gentle please.  It goes without saying that as this is irreplaceable, shipping by Registered Mail (slower delivery time) to assure safe delivery.  Take this into account prior to considering a purchase.
